I am curious why dancers in las vegas choose to form LLC.

    2. Jenn says:

Doug! That is a good question! And you bring something to mind that has been a rather large debate in the industry for over 25 years. Most dancers, like the ones you are referring to in Las Vegas, are independent contractors and therefore they technically own their own business. In LV you have to go get a business license which is around $200, which you must renew every year, and then you must also obtain an exotic dancer’s license and go through a pretty lengthy legal process. It usually takes a full day to go to all of the buildings necessary to become a legal and sole proprietor. However, for further protection, dancers open up their own LLC just like any other business owner would. It stands for Limited Liability Corporation. In so doing, if they were to ever get sued or blamed legally, their LLC they operate out of is what remains liable, so they would bankrupt that corporation if they had to and still maintain their personal assets without being totally wiped out. Just like in any other business! Great question! Did I answer it well enough? Of course, ALWAYS consult with your CPA or attorney first before you take anyone’s advice – including mine!

Excellent presentation Jennifer! Should be required viewing as part of the first night for a dancer anywhere!.

    4. Jenn says:

That is the goal, Winston! Everyone would be much happier and wealthier that way!

    5. Ed says:

      Very well thought out video.

Not just budding strippers should watch this, I think it would do a lot of other women good to watch it too.

    6. Jenn says:

Thanks Ed! I completely agree – it’s important that women know the truth about our industry and that it is not this evil organization that exploits women. It is a legal, legitimate business that consenting adults enjoy for entertainment and to earn an honest living!
