The Mary Jane stripper shoe is gaining fast popularity among exotic dancers and pop culture icons – so even though it is technically a patent leather stripper shoe, it’s unique design has prompted me to give this shoe its own category in the halls of pole dance history. We’ve discussed the six types of stripper shoes in our previous videos along with going into depth about clear stripper shoes and patent leather stripper shoes, and so today we’re going to talk about the five ins and outs of Mary Jane stripper shoes and how you can best wear them! That includes size, design, heel height and support for your foot with orthotics.
I’m Jennifer McCumber, author of Freedom V, feature columnist for ED Publications and I’m leading the movement for exotic dancer education all over the world.
The American history term, Mary Jane, refers to a closed toe, low cut shoe with one or more straps across the instep. These are classic school-girl uniform shoes traditionally worn with pantyhose or socks, and a dress or a skirt and blouse.
Today’s more stylish Mary Jane shoes tend to be in platform style shoes with chunky heels and thick straps. Many times the wearers will accent the look with knee-high knit socks in dark patterns, hosiery, and a plaid skirt to top it off.
For our purposes when referring to Mary Jane Stripper Shoes, we’re talking about a high heel shoe that mimics the instep and platform design of the original Mary Jane shoe but with an extra high heel and high platform, as you see below!
The five things to look for in patent pole dance shoes are the same 5 things we discussed in the clear shoes video – but are applied differently to Mary Jane shoes.

We’ve discussed the six types of stripper shoes in our previous videos along with going into depth about clear stripper shoes in our last video, and so today we’re going to talk about the five ins and outs of patent leather stripper shoes and how you can best wear them! That includes size, design, heel height and support for your foot with orthotics.

Patent pole dance shoes consist of pretty much everything else other than clear stripper shoes. The clear stripper shoes are made of plastics and PVC and other materials, to where as the patent stripper shoes are made from leather.
This may sound strange to you, but I always found the clear plastic stripper shoes to be much more comfortable than the patent leather stripper shoes. It was something about the plastic molding to the shape of my foot that made it all the better!
Patent Stripper shoes use a type of superior grade leather with what they call a “japanned” finish, which is what gives this shoe a glossy, shiny finish. The process of patent leather, which was never patented as in the invention way of patenting things, used an oil coating over the leather but in today’s shoes you’ll usually find a plastic coating around these patent leather stripper shoes!
The five things to look for in patent pole dance shoes are the same 5 things we discussed in the clear shoes video – but are applied differently to patent shoes.
1. The size and width
2. The strap design
3. The toe cut design
4. The heel hight in relation to the platform
5. Orthotics or arch supports
1. Size and width – patent stripper shoes don’t expand in size as much as clear stripper shoes do after you’ve been wearing them for a while. I’ve found that the patent shoes run a little narrower than the clear shoes do in general, but that may not be the case 100% of the time. The patent leather material is more sturdy than the clear shoes.

Clear Stripper Shoes are a favorite among strippers, pole dancers, strip clubs, pageant contestants, proms, weddings, and a variety of other formal functions because of their aesthetic appeal that is like a Cinderella Slipper or Ballerina.
I’m Jennifer McCumber, author of Freedom V, feature columnist for ED Publications and I’m leading the movement for exotic dancer education all over the world.
Today we’re going to dive into the ins and outs of what you need to know if you will be wearing these clear stripper shoes for any length of time in the club or elsewhere! I’ve brought my own personal heels here to show you how I modify them if I am going to dance, and the things that you should look for when your are buying clear shoes.
The name clear stripper shoes can also be referred to as lucite heels because they are made from a transparent material. The empty, clear space you see in the platform and heel has been used to contain all sorts of fun and flashy items like lights, liquids or even glitter or fake fish.
The materials clear stripper shoes are made out of include polycarbonate, PVC, Lucite and acrylic resin. The best brands to look for include Pleaser, Ellie, Luscious, The Highest Heel Collection and a few others. Even Prada and Fendi emulated the style with their more expensive, high end shoes to add a little erotic flare to their line of shoes due to the popularity of this style.
Stars that are FAMOUS for wearing clear heels include Beyonce, Rihanna, and Prince of all people!
The top things you need to consider when looking for clear stripper shoes are the following
1. The size and width
2. The strap design
3. The toe cut design
4. The heel hight in relation to the platform
5. Orthotics or arch supports
1. Clear stripper shoes expand over time. I had to get a new pair about every 4-6 months because the plastic material would expand and my foot would start slipping right out of the shoe subtly. Of course, I was in them 5 nights per week. This is something you want to look out for.
2. The strap design is important because you need straps on your shoes to give you extra security and stability so you don’t end up tripping over your shoe or risk it coming off while you are performing.
3. The toe cut design is important. I used to buy Pleaser shoes that had a squared off toe cut design, which gives dancers with wider feet a much more comfortable scenario for their toes. When they stopped making these I had to wrap medical tape around my toes because the plastic that curves around in a more circular fashion would chafe my feet and make me bleed. After a while you get calloused and used to it so you don’t always have to do that. Many ladies never have to. It just depends on your feet, how wide or narrow they are and the size and quality of shoe you can find.

Shopping for stripper clothes can be frustrating. Finding a size that fits and complements your body type while bringing out your complexion, minimizing flaws, and having easy on and off quality for lap dances is a must. I have searched high and low for a company that I can rely on. I present to you TabuToys.com!
The two stripper outfits contained in this post are comfortable dance wear dresses that I would like to talk about specifically. First off is the yellow dress. As you will see it has a nice open-back look with a vertical slit in the front at the chest with extra cloth material around the tummy to hide a pooch! However, you will not “look” pregnant in this dress because of the nice offset that you get with the tight skirt section which shows off a slimming thigh line.
There are a few reasons why I recommend this dress as a dance wear dress for stripper clothes. First, it is so comfortable that you could sleep in the outfit! Second, it comes on and off very very easily. The last thing that a stripper needs is to be fooling around with a complicated outfit for 5 minutes every time you put it on or take it off. That wastes your hard-earned time and money!
This dress only comes in yellow which looks best if you have at least a little tan, but I hadn’t tanned one bit this spring and it looked fine in these pictures! Of course, I have a natural olive complexion but I still get white in the winter! It will be fine in the club especially since the lights are more dim there. Lastly, the rhinestone piece that ties this dress around your neck is absolutely stunning!
